Scoffs Vegan Fudge Review

On the 28th of May 2014 we got our order through the post from Scoffs, we bought several as gifts and a few for ourselves as a treat. We originally found out about the company through The Vegan Kind, as we got a packet of their Chocolate Fudge in our TVK #7 monthly box.

So this is our first order with the company and we are very impressed, their website was easy to order from and our order arrived in good time. It arrived well packaged, as you can see from the photos and it goes without saying that they tasted great!

As we said above, quite a few were gifts and they went down very well. None of them were vegan but they enjoyed them very much, they even made a comment saying they tastes just as good as dairy fudge! One even mentioned it was the best dairy free fudge she had ever tasted and I have to say we totally agree with her :-) so its nice to see other think the same as us.

Our favourite fudge that Scoffs do is the Chocolate Fudge, its amazing and we can highly recommend it because it tastes fantastic. It was this fudge that we sent as gifts as well although we have tried their other fudge too but this one is our favourite.

As you can see from the photos you’ll see two chocolate truffles, these were a free gift as we had a code for them when we got them in our TVK box. Scoffs do chocolate truffles as well so it was a great way to taste them and find out what they taste like before ordering.

So what did we think of them? Well one of us liked them and the other didn’t, they are both made using dark chocolate and one of us likes dark chocolate and the other not so much. I think overall we wouldn’t order them usually as they aren’t something we both like, although saying that it doesn’t mean we wouldn’t order them for one of us as a treat. Generally they are well made homemade vegan truffles and it would be lovely if they did less intense dark chocolate ones and tried some milk type version. If they did we’d definitely give them a try.

Well I am not sure there is much else we can say, Scoffs is a great company that make amazing vegan fudge that tastes amazing. They taste so good that even people that aren’t vegan will like them, in fact I doubt they would even notice as they are seriously that good. So if you’ve not tried them already we can highly suggest you giving them a try, we doubt you’ll be disappointed. Their website is: http://www.scoffsweets.co.uk/

The Vegan Kind Monthly Box #TVK7

Firstly we’d like to apologise for how late we are publishing our review for our #TVK7 which we received on the 10th of May 2014. Unfortunately a combination of bad health and laptop problems meant we got behind but we are back now, laptop problem sorted and health…well that still isn’t very good. Anyway your not here to read about our problems, let get back to reviewing our #TVK7 box which is our second box from The Vegan Kind.

For us this box was hit and miss for us, there was a few products in there that wasn’t really us and then ones that were. The good thing about these monthly boxes is introducing us to products we often don’t know about and the chance to try them. It might mean you get things you don’t like but you will often come across things you do. This box is the perfect example of that.

For us this box was worth it for one product, Scoffs Chocolate Fudge. Its the best vegan fudge we have ever tasted, in fact the best fudge we have ever had. So for us the box was already worth it for this alone, finding a great vegan fudge from a great company. As for the other products, we enjoyed the crisps and the bio laundry liquid sample and as for the others they weren’t for us.

We’ll use the same format as our last TVK review and include a photo of each product, mention what they are underneath and our review on that product if we have tried it yet. We do have some more photos too which we will show after this section.

#TVK7 Hectares Sweet Potato Crisps

#TVK7 Hectares Sweet Potato Crisps .

We both tried these and thought they were nice crisps, one of us preferred them over the other but that was only because they were rather spicy. We would love to try some of their other flavour crisps and hopefully we’ll come across them so we can.

We gave this a try, we even used soya milk instead of water as we thought it would make it better. However for us it did not, milk or not it didn’t taste good. Even thought it had quite a few flavours over all it tasted bland. We couldn’t even finish the portion despite trying. To be honest we can’t see why others would like it either but this is just our opinion.

This was one of the things in the box that wasn’t for us, so I am afraid they are still in their packet untouched. I suppose we should force ourselves to try them but its hard when you don’t even like the main ingredients. I am sorry we can’t give further feedback on this product.

Sadly this was another product that wasn’t our thing, one of us does drink tea but not this kind of tea. So we sent this to a friend as we thought someone else might as well enjoy it. Sorry we can’t provide further feedback on this product.

#TVK7 BIO D Concentrated Non Bio Laundry Liquid Sample.

We often use Bio D products but hadn’t got around to trying there Laundry Liquid yet, so it was nice getting a sample so we could try it before buying a retail pack. Like all there other products, it was very good so we are happy to recommend this product along with suggesting their other products.

#TVK7 Scoff Sweets Chocolate Fudge 150g

This was our favourite product in the whole box and made the whole box worth while. This is simply the best vegan fudge we have ever tasted, in fact the best fudge we have ever tasted. Beautifully made homemade fudge, its creamy and chocolately and simply addictive. Highly Recommended to all. We loved it so much we even went and ordered some more directly from Scoffs.

To see more about #TVK7 and previous boxes, which includes a description of each product and links to their companies click here.

As you can tell, the highlight from this months box was Scoffs Chocolate Fudge. We can’t wait to enjoy more of their fudge and we know it will make great gifts as well. Yes there was a lot in this box that wasn’t for us or that we didn’t like but we were introduced to a few great products so it made it all worth while. A big thank you to The Vegan Kind Team for putting this box together.

Until our next box here is all the photos we took of our #TVK7 Box;

Easter Treats from The Vegan Store

Sorry this is a little late but we still wanted to share this year’s Easter Treats with you all. Some think that because we are vegan that we miss out on treats at this time of year but that simply isn’t true, we have lots of choices to celebrate Easter which are all vegan and cruelty free.

We regularly shop with The Vegan Store  and we did a shop with them just before Easter where we treated ourselves to some lovely goodies to eat. This is our first vegan Easter where we bought some Easter treats and we had so many options to choose from, we easily could of bought more if we had wanted too. It was really nice to have an Easter Egg this year and oh my the one we choose was amazing!

So what did we buy? well we both had an Easter Egg from Moo Free, we went for the bunnycomb (honeycomb as we know it by, its also know as Cinder Toffee) and it tastes so good. By the time we had finished our easter egg we had wished we had bought more. We are not huge fans of Moo Free Chocolate, we tend to keep it in stock for baking rather than eating. Well the bunnycomb as they call it tasted so good and we soon wanted more. I think if we can buy them next year we’ll get more of them, we did try to find out if they did this in a chocolate bar all year round and they do but its the mini bars rather than the bigger size bars. Mini bars work out quite costly so I think we might have to wait till next year’s Easter Egg, until we end up being lucky and they bring it out in a bigger chocolate bar.

Apart from our Easter Egg, we each had a white and milk chocolate bunny from Choices. The white one was our favourite although we enjoyed them both. It was also the first time we bought some chocolate coated cinder toffee/honeycomb, we had been putting this off before as we knew we could make our own but as I knew we didn’t have the time we finally bought some. Well they were lovely, we went for the milk and dark chocolate ones and I’d say our favourite was the milk variety although the dark wasn’t bad either. I can see us buying more if we don’t have the time to make them ourselves as they were a very enjoyable treat.

Nearly forgot, we tried some freedom mallows that we had heard a lot about too. Till now we have been enjoying vegan marshmallows from Ananada Foods, but these are fresh marshmallows and freedom marshmallows aren’t so they last longer. We have  tried them both and they were great. We even tried the Vanilla ones with hot chocolate and loved how they reacted like non vegan marshmallows do so that was a huge plus (we’ve found most of the vegan marshmallows don’t react the same in a hot drink).  I think we might keep them in stock but if we had to choose I think we prefer the ones from Ananda , although they do have there plus points as they can be stored for much longer so I can see us buying them both.

We also got some giant chocolate buttons, we had never tried these before and thought why not try them now? We prefer milk chocolate but don’t mind dark chocolate although some can be quiet intense. Well these were intensely dark chocolate so we both felt they would be better for cooking than eating, although one of us did prefer them more than the other to eat them as they are.

Well I think we have mentioned everything and now its time for the photos, we took lots of photos to show you. We can highly recommend the Vegan Store to shop with, they are very helpful and every order from them has arrived in good time and well packed. As for the individual products, we would happily recommend them all as well especially the Moo Free  Bunnycomh Easter Eggs as they were amazing!

Sorry for the delay in getting this post published, hopefully next year we’ll be far quicker.

The Vegan Kind – Our First Box #TVK6

We recently heard about a vegan company from a friend and it sounded interesting so we looked into it. The company is called The Vegan Kind and its a monthly lifestyle subscription box for vegans (although suitable for anyone). Once we looked into it we thought we have to try it and so thats exactly what we did, we signed up for our first box.

We have been vegans for a while now but we still liked the idea of the box (we only wish we had known about it ages ago, it would of been so helpful at the start of our vegan journey!) as it would introduce us to more vegan products. The more we know about the better and its done in a way that it gives you a chance to try them without having to buy too much, as often you are given a sample size or the normal size but just one of them. So it really is the perfect way to try new products, hopefully find ones you like and then you can look at sourcing more. This is why we loved the idea of this company when we heard about it and we couldn’t wait for our first box to arrive.

Our first box was in April and called TVK6, it arrived on the 4th of April and we couldn’t wait to see what was inside. We took lots of photos and a video too (which we hope to show you if we can) and enjoyed seeing what goodies were in our first box. Well we were very happy and felt we got some great products to try, we hadn’t tried any of them and only recognised one (just seen it around, never bought it). It also showed us that we made the right choice, as we were being introduced to some great products :-).

So where do we start? I think we’ll show a photo of each product, mention what they are underneath and our review on that product if we have tried it yet. We do have some more photos too which we will show after this section.

We have yet to try this so we’ll come back and add a review here when we have.

Photo of #TVK6 Freyaluna Lavender Lip Face & Body Balm

#TVK6 Freya luna Lavender Lip Face & Body Balm

This is a lovely product and one my wife was very happy to receive, she often suffers with dry lips due to her medication and she had recently been saying she needed a good vegan lip balm so the timing couldn’t of been better. We have both tried it and like it, there isn’t much to say about it really as it does exactly as its designed to do. My wife loves using it on her lips and she finds it really helps. She also loves Lavender so this was a huge hit, I can see us buying more in the future.

Photo of #TVK6 Rebel Kitchen Choco Mylk

#TVK6 Rebel Kitchen Choco Mylk

We both drink Soya Milkshakes often so we were delighted when we saw this in the box. We both couldn’t wait to try it, as soon as it was cold we tucked in. It tasted AMAZING. In fact we’d have to say its the best chocolate milkshake we have had since being vegan. We both love it, its now our favourite chocolate milkshake and we plan on doing a big shop with Rebel Kitchen very soon to stock up on these…and to sample their other flavours too.

Photo of #TVK6 Landgarten Organic Dark Chocolate Soya Snack

#TVK6 Landgarten Organic Dark Chocolate Soya Snack

We both tried these thinking they sounded great and we’ve yet to try a soya bean based snack. Sadly neither of us liked them :-( so after we tasted a few it went in the bin as we didn’t know anyone else locally that could try it. We found it was too bitter, I think if it had been done with a milk chocolate (vegan of course) it could of been a lot better. We’ll definitely be open to trying other soya bean snacks as we think we dislike it more due to the bitterness of the chocolate.

We’d like to add that neither of us mind dark chocolate, one is more a fan than the other but we still didn’t like this snack covered in it. Just to add, just cause we threw this away didn’t mean it didn’t serve its purpose because it did. It allowed us to try something that we might not have otherwise and if we had liked it we most likely would of bought more.

Photo of #TVK6 Coconom Coconut Sugar

#TVK6 Coconom Coconut Sugar

This has been a huge hit and we are already looking at buying more coconut sugar. We had never used coconut sugar till we got this and we are both big fans, we use it in most things and find it very enjoyable. We even think its enhanced some of what we’ve used it on as it has a lovely taste. Despite it being coconut sugar neither of us would say it tasted of coconut.

So far we have used it in/on our breakfast cereal, baking, puddings and drinks and we are very happy with it. I can soon see us not needing white sugar at all!

Photo of #TVK6 Creative Nature Sublime Seed Bar

#TVK6 Creative Nature Sublime Seed Bar

My wife isn’t a fan of these kind of bars but I am, I have tried most bars like this but not this brand before. I run regularly and find snacks like these really helpful so I was eager to try it. It tasted OK but at the same time didn’t blow me away, I think I’d buy more if I came across but not make an effort to seek it out to buy.

To see more about #TVK6 and previous boxes, which includes a description of each product and links to their companies click here.

Well there isn’t much else to say, we have both enjoyed our first Vegan Kind Box and it wont be long till the next arrives at our door. I think if we had to pick a highlight from this box it would be two of them, Rebel Kitchen Choco Mylk and Coconom Coconut Sugar. We can’t thank The Vegan Kind Team enough for putting this box together and bringing us such a brilliant service.

We will of course be back to review our next box but until then here are more photos from April’s Vegan Kind Box, we hope you enjoy them. We do have a video which we hope to add later, at the moment we are having problems downloading it from our camera.

Hannah Banana Bakery

A few months ago we found out about a vegan bakery in Southampton and we were delighted to find out they would post out certain goodies. One look on her website or facebook page and you started to crave her beautiful cupcakes and doughnuts. Recently we had the pleasure of being able to order some of her doughnuts as well as some of her cookie dough :-) we couldn’t wait to try them!

Well we are very impressed, they arrived quickly (sent by first class, our choice of postal method as she gives you several options) and were packaged well for the journey. Once we opened the mailing packaging the doughnuts were in a nice box and presented beautiful, as was the cookie dough (she ran out of her usual wrapping but we didn’t mind the wrapping she used instead). Our order arrived to us in perfect condition which is fantastic, we have received baking items by post in the past and they haven’t always arrived in good condition. You could tell our order was packed with a lot of care and attention to detail, we even took photos to show you as we were very impressed.

So your probably asking so how were the doughnuts? Well not only did they look yummy but they tasted yummy too. It was so nice to enjoy a good doughnut again, they were all delicious. By the end of day two they were all gone and very much enjoyed. We ordered two of each doughnut so we wouldn’t have to share and went for; Jam and soya cream doughnut with sugar coating, Baked Lemon Kurd filled doughnut with sugar coating and Deep fried doughnut ring with chocolate glazing topped with sprinkles. They were all as good as they sound, we think anyone would enjoy these whether you were vegan or not. To be honest you couldn’t tell they were, which we think is a good sign of a good doughnut.

We also ordered the cookie dough, we went for chocolate chip. As we had the doughnuts to eat we put ours in the freezer for a treat later. Its perfect to use from the freezer although we did have to wait for it to defrost before we could use it (some cookie dough you can freeze in a way that you can just slice up and bake, without having to defrost first which is what we are used too). It came in a rectangle block and we decided to cut it in half and put one half back in the freezer. This ended up being a great idea as the cookie dough made far more cookies than we expected, her blog mentioned it makes 12 cookies. Well we only used half the cookie dough and managed to make more than this. They were of decent size, in fact you could of got more by making them smaller. All we did with the dough was roll it up and then slice, which is the way we have always been used too. Quick and easy to do and then all we did was bake them in the oven.

So how did they taste? well we loved them and we have to say we loved the chocolate chips she used (they are different to the ones we have for baking). Not much more to say really, they were good cookies and no way would you know they were vegan.

If you would like to check out this fantastic vegan bakery, you can view her website here and her facebook page here. As you have probably already guessed we highly recommend her and we’ll definitely be ordering with her again.

Now time for the photos and we have a lot of them, we hope you will enjoy them as we wanted to show you our order from how it arrived to how good the food looks. As we have quite a few we’ll start with showing one photo each telling you which doughnut they are (although I bet you guess without needing the text) and then add the gallery with all the photos. Enjoy and we do apologise as it will probably leave you wanting to have some :-) in fact its making us want to do an order right now for more doughnuts!

The Best Squirting (Spray) Cream; Schlagfix Soya Spray Cream

The best vegan squirting cream.

The best vegan spray cream.

We thought we’d share with you a favourite vegan cream of ours, we use it regularly and its the best cream of this type we have found (and we have tried others). It’s called Schlagfix Soya Spray Cream and its a thick soya based spray cream.

So what can we tell you about it apart from the fact it tastes great and its the best we’ve found? We have this as a stable in our household, we even buy several cans at a time as when it isn’t opened it can last a long time. It means we always have it in stock and never run out. We use in on so many things like deserts and hot drinks like hot chocolate. Our most common to enjoy it with is a yummy hot chocolate drink or our baked banana splits, it just wouldn’t be the same without this cream.

It’s much better than the other vegan spray cream on the market, we find this one not only tastes better (we think the other has a taste to it that isn’t very nice) but it also performs better. By this we mean we never have any problems getting cream out of the can straight from the fridge and also we find once it’s sprayed out that it stays there longer than the other. We hope that makes sense. To us it tastes so good that you could serve it to non vegans without any complaint, there is no obvious taste to give it away so it can be enjoyed by all.

I’m not sure there is much else to say about this fantastic product apart from the fact we are so pleased we came across it a few months back. We found it online with a retailer we shop with and now every few months we order a new stock of it. This retailer has now started stocking other ranges from the same brand, although we are yet to try these but if they are anything like this spray cream we’ll be impressed.

You might be wondering what they are? They are whipping cream in a cartoon, a sweetened and unsweetened version. I think we’ll buy some and give it a try, then we can review it for you all. I think they will be ideal when doing pudding a like a trifle.

The online retailer that we get our supply of this great cream from (and other products too) are called Vegan Store and their website is www.veganstore.co.uk. We have used them many times so we are happy to recommend them as a retailer to shop with, we have always been happy with the service they provide.

Mimilicious Dairy Free Clotted Cream Review

We recently found out about a vegan clotted cream, we couldn’t quite believe it so of course we looked into it further. We were right and there was a vegan friendly clotted cream alternative on the market. We are so pleased we found this product because since becoming vegan we’ve never found anything that would replicate clotted cream. As soon as we saw it our first thought was “Yay lets have a cream tea!” and so this is exactly what we planned, a nice homemade scone with jam and some of this clotted cream.

Let me tell you a little more, firstly the company used to be called Devonshire Klotted Kream but now its known as Mimilicious. They are a small company and their product is homemade in a vegan kitchen so it means you don’t have to worry about cross contamination. Its soya free and made from a base of oats which have a natural sweetness and a creamy taste and texture. As they say its recommended by cows :-).

Now onto our review of the Mimilicious Clotted Cream, we bought the large pot which is 200g but they also do a small pot which is 110g. To save on postage we actually bought 3 large pots because this product can be frozen. This cream can be eaten on the day it arrives but it can also be stored in the fridge for up to a week. This cream does need to be used/enjoyed at room temperature so make sure you get it out in plenty of time before you want it. This is because when its in the fridge it goes hard but once at room temperature it becomes soft again. As I said before you can also freeze this product, we did this for two of the pots when they arrived. I think its great that it freezes well because it means you have it on hand for when you need it.

We both love this clotted cream, we have had it many times on a lovely homemade scone with spread, jam and cream. It was a lovely cream tea and I think would be enjoyed  by all. Of course its not exactly like the dairy version of clotted cream but its pretty good for a dairy free version. Its the only type of cream like this on the market that we know of and we really like it. We have already enjoyed oat based cream  before so felt confident that we’d like this clotted cream. Well we both love it and it tastes great, no back taste or anything and just very enjoyable.

We ordered the large pot because we thought the smaller pot wouldn’t be enough for a few days of scones, spread, jam and cream. Hopefully they don’t mind but we’ll show a photo of scone they have shown on their website topped with their clotted cream. See below this for that photo. Anyway my point is when you think of a scone with clotted cream on most likely you’d put that amount on, well I know I did as a kid. This is why we went for the big pot, anyway we found when we had it that we didn’t want to put as much cream on our scones. Well we did but both felt pretty sick after so decided less cream was best. So we spread a small amount of cream on our scone, probably approximately a tablespoon per scone. This was perfect for us and we enjoyed our scone very much. Therefor we found we still had cream left after we had finished our batch of scones. You do have a limited time to enjoy the cream so sadly we did end up with wastage in the end. I think for this reason we’ll go for the small pots next time. I’d say it all depends on how much cream you want to have and also how many people. Its only me and my husband and we found we could not get through a big pot in time.

Mimilicious Dairy Free Clotted Cream on a Scone.

Mimilicious Clotted Cream 200g Large Pot.

Don’t forget you can enjoy this Clotted Cream for so many other things and not just a cream tea. Mimilicious have suggested a Victoria sponge cake with cream and jam in the middle or you could even use it when making a homemade Banoffee pie. So lots of options of what you could use this cream for, we have only used it with scones so far but look forward to enjoying it with other things too. We are thinking with Christmas coming up that it would be great with mince pies!

We are very happy to recommend this product to everyone, it tastes great and its good value for money too. We have used this product both from fresh and frozen (by frozen we mean frozen and then defrosted) and its been just as good. Their website is great because they also share some vegan recipes with you too, including a recipe to make some scones. We would recommend checking out their website to find out more because they tell you everything you need to know, you can even find out what ingredients they use for their clotted cream.

Please check out their website at http://www.klottedkream.co.uk/ and please remember the photos used here are copyright © to Mimilicious Dairy Free Clotted Cream/ KlottedKream.co.uk. We hope you don’t mind Mimilicious seeming as we are recommending your company/product.

There is not much else to say apart from check it out, whether you are vegan, lactose intolerant or allergic to dairy then this could be the cream for you. Its a perfect alternative to clotted cream and tastes great. Don’t forget if you want to order some they are made fresh to order so it might take up to 7 days to process your order. Its then sent by Royal Mail 1st Class so it wont be long till you get your order, well worth the wait in our eyes!

Interested in Nutritional Information? Well we are as we log what we eat so we like to know the nutritional information on the food we eat, its not always available on all the products we buy but we got in touch with Mimilicious and they were able to provide us with calorie information. There are 468
calories per 100g of cream. It might sound like a lot but there is nearly 600 in the same amount of dairy clotted cream. Also you end up having it in smaller amounts, for example our average serving is 15g and that is 70 calories. Thanks again to Mimilicious for providing this information, its much appreciated.

Veggiestuff.com Review

Recently we came across a great online shop selling vegan food. Not only did they stock chilled vegan food but even better for us they delivered to us.

To go a little further into they deliver to us, since we became vegan we have wanted to try some of the chilled vegan food but we’ve not been able to order any online. Why you ask? All because of where we live, they either wouldn’t deliver or would charge a fortune. Well this is why Veggiestuff.com is fantastic. Not only will they deliver chilled goods to us but they don’t over charge either. It cost us £12.00, the cost of a parcel force delivery (this is for where we live, it could be cheaper depending on your location and as our order included chilled item it was £1 extra e.g non chilled order £11, order with chilled food £12).

Recently we did an order with them, finally we could try some of the chilled vegan products we wanted like a great pizza cheese we had heard about, our favourite vegan cream cheese as well as other vegan foods like sausages. We did a large order to make the postage worth it. Luckily a lot of what we wanted either has a few months storage life or can be frozen. So we got a good stock of food and looked forward to it being delivered.

Only a few days later and our large parcel arrived. We did the order online on Sunday, got a phone call from them on Monday informing us of delivery information (of which they were very helpful) and on Thursday we got the delivery. Great service for us given that we live on a Scottish island.

We must say all we can do is praise them highly, they packed the order very well. There was a box within a box and then as our order was so large they grouped our food into small packages. Within these smaller packages their was these chilled ice packs on the top and bottom. It kept the food chilled and they all arrived in perfect condition. I think there was about 6 smaller packages so they really took time and care over packing our order well. We can’t thank them enough, we found such a brilliant company and we can recommend them highly.

So if you want to check out this company then go to their website and you’ll find they have great vegan food selection, especially chilled foods.

We’ll be back again soon and review some of the vegan food we bought.

Thanks again to veggiestuff.com for supplying us with all this great food and taking care of our order so well. We’ll definitely be shopping with you again soon, as locally we don’t have the option to get most of these chilled vegan foods.

Salter Kitchen Scales

Measuring Jug Electronic Scale | Model: 1089BKWHDR

Measuring Jug Electronic Scale | Model: 1089BKWHDR

We recently had to buy some new kitchen scales as our old ones sadly died, they were also salter scales. They lasted us really well and the only reason they died was a fault of our own (D burnt them by leaving them on the cooker hob!) otherwise I have no doubt they would still be going now.

Our new scales are great and in a way its good we had an excuse to buy some more. We had a look at the various Salter scales and choose this one, several reasons really but the main ones were; this one came with a bowl, the scales does litres, UK pints, US cups, UK Fl.oz.

We have been using them for the last week and they are much easier to use than the last ones. The display is easier to read (as the design is different it means you don’t end up having random bowls etc obscuring the display) and we also find the results are more stable, meaning the results don’t change so much. Its also very handy that you have a bowl designed to fit the scales, it just makes it so much easier when coming to measure things. No trying to find a bowl or something else to use because the scales are already to use. The other main difference is being able to measure more things as this scales has far more options than the last, the last one only weighed in KGs and OZs but as mentioned above this one does far more than that. This has meant the scales has been used more and made measuring a lot easier and quicker too.

The only con we can think of regarding these scales is the size of the text used to display which unit you are measuring in. Apart from that though everything else is positive. The scales might not look the most modern or pretty but practicality wins every time.

We’ll leave you with specs on the scales and all we can say is we recommend them highly:

  • 1.25 litre jug with easy pour lip – dishwasher-safe (top rack only)
  • Add & Weigh ‘zero’ function – allows for measurement of multiple ingredients in the same bowl
  • Aquatronic function for measuring liquids in ml or fl.oz.
  • Easy to read display – size: 4.6mm x 2.1cm

We heard that Ananda Foods from Sheffield, UK made vegan marshmallows and we thought we would try them out. We desperately wanted to find a good vegan marshmallow and if we could get it within the UK that would be great. Up to now we were buying vegan marshmallows that were made in the USA, bought in the UK but not from the UK. They were by Sweet and Sara, they weren’t bad and we did enjoy them however we found out they contained GMO and were very unhappy about this. So when we came across Ananda’s marshmallows we jumped at giving them a go.

So for our first order we ordered some of her vanilla marshmallows and some of her flavoured ones too as they sounded good. Usually we buy vegan marshmallows to cook with, we like making a vegan version of Rocky Roads (recipe to be posted soon) so we were looking for a good basic marshmallow. So we bought some of her Madagascar Vanilia Marshmallows in mini form to try. If they tasted good then we’d buy some more for cooking with. We were also tempted by her flavour marshmallows, the plan was to eat them and have a good tasting session!

The tasting session was great, the vanilla marshmallows were great and very similar to Sweet and Sara’s ones only no GMO ingredients and made within the UK. So we couldn’t ask for more, they taste great and I can see them working well when cooking with them. As for the flavour ones, we thought these were good but for our tastes we’d rather the flavour was stronger. Not to say we didn’t enjoy them though but this was our preference. We still have some left and enjoy snacking on a few every now and again.

So over all a huge success, her marshmallows taste great and I can’t see any problems with cooking with them (the vanilla ones). So I think our next order will be for some more vanilla ones and we’ll make some yummy vegan rocky roads. This is our main use for wanting vegan marshmallows. I have to say though, they are good enough to eat by themselves!

I am not sure there is much else to say about them, we’ll definitely come and review them again when we have tried them in cooking. I have a feeling they will work very well. We look forward to finding a lot more things to cook and bake with marshmallows, now we have found Ananda’s marshmallows we have a perfect excuse. They taste great, easy to source, made within the UK and no bad ingredients.

Thanks Ananda Foods for making and selling these lovely vegan marshmallows. If you would like to get some too, we tend to buy directly from her and you can do so at her website.
